Why is Abstinence the Best Choice

Why is abstinence the best choice? Well, I could tell you about all the physical problems that having sex before marriage can cause, but we have all heard that over and over again. I could give you thousands of reasons to wait until marriage to have sex, but I'll just tell you about why I think abstinence is the best choice.

My choice to remain sexually pure until marriage is more a commitment than anything else. I have made a commitment to God, myself, my family, and my future spouse and children, that I will save sex for marriage.

The Bible states that God created sex for one man and one woman to share together inside the bounds of marriage. If God created sex for this purpose, then it would be honoring and obeying Him to use it as He desires.

I have committed to myself that I will not have sex until I am married. By making and keeping this commitment, I can protect myself from diseases and pregnancy. I have made this promise to myself, because I love myself, my morals, and my values.

My family is such a big part of my life that my commitment of abstinence affects them. By choosing abstinence, I am possibly setting an example for my younger sister to follow. My parents love me and want the best for me, by making this commitment, I am showing them that I have chosen the best path for this area of my life.

Even though I don't know who I will marry, abstinence is a commitment that I have made to him. You may think that it is too early for someone my age to be thinking about a commitment to my husband, but I think it can never be too early, only too late. Sex is a gift that God made for me to give to my husband at marriage, if I give it to someone else before that, I am cheating him and myself. Right now my children are nameless, faceless and only known by god, but I already love them and want what is best for them. Abstinence is the best choice, because if I don't wait until marriage to have sex how can I tell my children to wait.

Obviously, abstinence is the best choice. By choosing it for yourself, you can show that you love others. Make the commitment to save sex for marriage for you and your loved ones.
